WHAT ARE DATA HUMANIZING SERVICES?

A set of tools, capabilities and specialized personnel that focus on humanizing complex data, ensuring that it is easily consumed and digested by users that are not technologists or analysts.

HOW DO THESE SERVICES WORK IN SMART CITIES?

For SMART Cities, Chrysalis extracts the complex, high-volume streams of data being generated by both legacy and smart systems, and transforms it into customized deliverables designed to inform Mayors, City Council Members, City Managers and other city leadership personnel. Then these customized data deliverables are delivered directly to city leaders.

HOW ARE THESE MATERIALS CREATED?

First the relevant data is distilled down to the most relevant findings. Then new, uncomplicated visualizations are designed to create emphasis on key points. Next the team writes analytical narrative, to put the findings in context, explain what the data says and what it means, in layman’s terms without technical jargon.

Then the data is put into a “container”, which houses data, visualizations and narrative. Containers come in many sizes, but each is designed specifically for the intended recipient. Some are brief alerts that are consumable on a mobile phone screen, while others are longer, and more in-depth. Formats include PDFs, HTML, slides, videos or paper.

Finally, these materials are delivered to the intended audiences. We never assume these busy leaders will come and get these materials – instead, our distribution platform puts these customized, timely, decision-ready materials directly into their hands, when they need them most.

WHAT DOES THE CHRYSALIS TEAM CONSIST OF?

Chrysalis has built a team of analysts, researchers, engineers, writers, designers, visualizers, graphics and layout professionals that transform data into powerful findings, visualizations and narratives.

WHAT IS THE CHRYSALIS TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM?

Chrysalis built a customized platform with three key modules: the first takes in new data of virtually any format, builds a structure and conducts analysis. The second is a content management system to house the custom designed containers, which consist of distilled data, visualizations, narrative and format specifications. The final module is the distribution system, which delivers completed materials to the users on a custom schedule and via whatever channel is most convenient for the user.

HOW DOES CHRYSALIS PARTNER WITH SMART CITY TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES?

Every Chrysalis partnership is designed to do two things: create more value for the end client, and deliver incremental revenue to our partners. Our services can be included in a project scope, in which case we offer wholesale pricing to our partner so they can add a markup. Or we can come in after a project is active, and agree to a revenue share on revenue we obtain thanks to our partner. Either way, our goal is to deliver exceptional service, extensive value and a new set of resources for our partners.

HOW ARE THESE SERVICES PRICED?

Generally there are 2 components. The first is the initial Data Review & Audience Study. Here we inspect any data that we’d be working with, and then interview the individuals that we’d be creating deliverables for, to understand their learning styles, priorities, appetites for complexity etc. Once that is complete, we begin creating materials and billing on a monthly basis for whatever materials are required.

CAN WE CONDUCT A POC FOR THESE SERVICES?

In most cases, yes. We love to show our clients and partners what is possible whenever we can.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET STARTED?

Within two weeks the team at Chrysalis is ready to start creating and delivering custom materials to city leadership and stakeholders.

WHAT PLATFORMS DOES CHRYSALIS WORK WITH?

Chrysalis is entirely platform agnostic. Our work depends on our ability to extract and engage with data of virtually any type, and from virtually any system.

WHAT KIND OF AGREEMENT IS REQUIRED?

We can create ongoing agreements with consistent deliverables, or work on an ad hoc, on-demand basis. We’re happy to accommodate you and your clients’ schedules and budgets.

CAN CHRYSALIS SERVICES BE WHITE LABELED?

Absolutely. We’re happy to deliver our services under the umbrella of our partners’ offerings. In these cases, we price our services at “wholesale” rates so that our partners can markup our services and capture incremental revenue.
